A Passion That Became a Calling
Hi, I'm Jarvis, a self-taught graphite artist from Mumbai, India, and the artist behind Drawings by Jarvis.
I've loved drawing for as long as I can remember. As a child, I would spend hours sketching anything that caught my imagination. During the lockdown, that passion grew into something much deeper as I dedicated countless hours to improving my craft. With every drawing, I discovered not only the beauty of realism, but also the patience, discipline, and attention to detail that great art demands.
Although I attended art classes briefly as a child, everything I know today has been learned through years of self-practice, experimentation, and perseverance. After exploring different mediums, I found my home in graphite pencils. There is something timeless about creating depth, emotion, and life using nothing more than shades of black and white.
Every artwork you see here is drawn completely by hand. Some pieces take weeks to complete, while others take months. Every stroke is intentional — because I believe meaningful art should never be rushed.
Every artwork begins with patience, grows through perseverance, and is completed with purpose.
More Than Just Drawing
My journey isn't just about creating realistic drawings.
A few years after finishing school, I came to a life-changing realization: every talent I have is a gift from God. Left to myself, I can do nothing. My ability to create is not something I earned — it's something I have been entrusted with. That realization changed the purpose behind my art forever.
Today, every drawing I create is ultimately for His glory.
Every talent I have is a gift from God. My art is simply my way of giving that gift back to Him.
The Purpose Behind Every Piece
My greatest hope isn't simply that someone admires a drawing because it looks realistic.
I hope every artwork points beyond itself — that it encourages people to remember God, trust Him through every season of life, and reflect on His love, His sacrifice, and His faithfulness.
Many of my artworks contain meanings that aren't immediately obvious. I enjoy weaving symbolism and deeper messages into each piece, so the longer you spend with a drawing, the more there is to discover.
Every drawing is created with intention, inviting the viewer to look beyond the pencil marks and reflect on something greater.
The Foundation of My Work
These verses continue to guide both my life and my work:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
— 1 Peter 4:10
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
— Romans 12:6
These verses remind me why I create, who gave me this gift, and who every drawing is ultimately for.
Thank You
Thank you for visiting Drawings by Jarvis.
Whether you're here to commission a portrait, collect a fine art print, or simply enjoy the work, I hope these drawings encourage you to pause, reflect, and remember the One who gave us every good gift.
May every artwork point not to the artist, but to the Creator.
